About & Tour

It's easy to get carried away with options and end up with an intimidating or overwhelming issue entry form. Sifter strives to keep it simple. The easier it is for people to enter issues, the more likely they'll take the time to do it.

Creating Issues

One of the most important but easily overlooked aspects of bug and issue tracking is the ease of getting the data into the system. Without that data, nothing else matters—so we've really focused on making it quick and easy.

Concise and Efficient Issue Entry

Sifter's issue entry screen consists of the bare minimum fields needed to create an issue, (Figure 1) and the subject is the only required field. That way, it's easy to capture the issues quickly and circle back later to add more details.

Attach Screenshots

Sometimes, it's easier to show than to say, so it's easy to attach images with issues. With each new issue or update to an issue, team members can attach up to 5 images to help show what the problem is. (Figure 2)

Automatic Notification Emails

Sifter intelligently sends out notifications whenever new issues are created or updated. If an issue is assigned to someone when it's created, the assignee will automatically be notified, and if an assignee isn't selected, you can setup Sifter to notify specific team members that there's a new unassigned issue.

Create Multiple Issues Seamlessly

Sometimes, you're just in an issue-creating mood, and Sifter helps you stay in the zone. Whenever you create an issue, there's another button so that you can create the issue and then add another. (Figure 3)That way, Sifter stays ready for you to capture issues. It also works great if you're capturing ideas or issues during a meeting or brainstorming session.

Category Auto-assignment

It's not always possible for the person creating an issue to know to whom it should be assigned. It's much more likely that they'll be able to select a category—so you're able to establish a default assignee for each category. (Figure 4) That way, you're able to minimize the amount of issues that need to be assigned.
